Not that there isn’t still a long way to go. But man, things used to be way sh-ttier.

New posters for Suffragette were released on Tuesday, Emmeline Pankhurst Day in the UK.

Carey Mulligan plays a young working mother who joins the campaign for women’s right to vote in Britain. She’s flanked by fellow suffragettes, played by Anne-Marie Duff and Helena Bonham Carter.

There are so many good one-liners. I like the one where Mulligan’s character says “We break windows. We burn things. ‘Cause war’s the only language men listen to.”

This is total Oscar bait. A period drama featuring a stellar cast of British talent. Oh, and Meryl Streep’s playing Emmeline Pankhurst, who led the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU). Of course. The Academy might as well just fork it over to her now.
