Christmas has come early, because Ruby Rose, America’s sex symbol and that girl from Orange is the New Black who keeps making you question your sexuality, is officially back on the market! After two years together, she and her fiancée, Phoebe Dahl have called off their engagement. But you can’t be that surprised. It’s kind of an unwritten rule that people upgrade after becoming famous, as Mandy Moore so eloquently put it in American Dreamz.

Dahl released a statement exclusively to US Weekly on Monday, confirming the breakup. A few hours later, Rose tweeted directly to her ex: “@FAIRCLOTHSUPPLY remains very dear to my heart. I will forever treasure our time together. I’m a better person because of all we shared.”

Dahl replied: “You have brought me to my best and I will always love you. I can't wait to see what the future brings for us.”

Sounds amicable enough. Or at least that’s what they want us to think. Dahl has since moved out of Rose’s place in L.A.

Dahl has been quoted saying that it was “love at first sight” when she met Rose at a barbecue, even though she was still in a relationship at the time. Three months later they were engaged.

Rose said, “I thought, 'Oh my God, I need to marry her. Who is she?’”

I couldn’t wait to argue about furniture and whose family we have to visit this Christmas.

Can we unpack this expression “love at first sight”? I’m sorry to get all Harry Burns on you, but wouldn’t it be more accurate to say “lust at first sight”?

No? Okay.

Here’s a throwback to when Rose and Dahl were talking about taking turns having each other’s babies.
