Anne Hathaway defends Jennifer Lawrence in the most annoying way possible

Anne Hathaway wants us to leave Jennifer “Jenny From the Block” Lawrence alone. After scolding a reporter for looking at his phone during her post-Golden Globe win press conference, a lot of people are saying she was being kind of a b-tch. See for yourself (at 5:08):

She seemed pretty rude to me. Especially considering that Juan Pablo Fernández-Feo is a foreign journalist. Some have speculated he was reading his questions off his phone, since he’s a non-Native English speaker. What did Lawrence think he was doing? Playing Angry Birds?

In any case, Hathaway wants you to know we’re taking Lawrence’s finger wagging out of context. Here’s her eye-rolly open letter she posted on Facebook:

Dear the Internet,

It’s become pretty clear that the Jennifer Lawrence “scolding” was taken out of context and that she was dryly joking with a journalist who was indeed using his phone to take photos of her.

Let’s not continue the sad but common practice of building people – especially women- up just to viciously tear them down when we perceive them to have misstepped. Jennifer is a beautiful, talented, wildly successful, popular, FOUR TIME OSCAR NOMINATED young woman. Please let us not punish her for these things.

Sincerely,

A J-Law fan ‪#‎supportstrongwomen ‪#‎imwithher ‪#‎whycantwegiveloveonemorechance

Um, what does being a four-time Oscar nominee have to do with anything? Like that makes her God?

Everyone makes mistakes. And I tend to cut celebrities some slack when they have to give a press conference after drinking at an awards ceremony. But it annoys me when their colleagues act as if they are above criticism, as if being famous is hard, or something. See Jodie Foster’s open letter defending Kristen Stewart.

Not like any of that matters. The world will forgive Lawrence, because she’s adorable and everyone loves her.
