Rough Night is The Hangover on steroids

First off, Happy International Women’s Day! Sorry I didn’t have time to protest, but I was like, totally with you guys in spirit. I even wrote a touching Tweet about it.

After the dumpster fire that was 2016, I’ve been looking for solace in the little things. Like the fact that things are finally looking up for female-driven movies.

Sony just dropped the trailer for Rough Night, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jillian Bell, Kate McKinnon, Zoë Kravitz and Ilana Glazer. In other words, my dream squad.

So it’s like a cross between Jawbreaker, The Hangover and Weekend at Bernie’s.

I AM SO IN.

I’ve been ecstatic about this movie since it was announced under the working title Rock That Body (which I prefer to the new one). It’s at the top of my list of films to see this year, right next to Ocean’s Eight.

Rough Night was written and directed by Lucia Aniello, who has also worked on Broad City. We need more movies made by women for women. After the underperformance of Ghostbusters and the takeover of Fifty Sh-ts Darker by a more male dominated team, I’m rooting for this to be a hit.

In other news, Johansson’s divorce is getting messy. Basically, she wants to have residential custody of their daughter, but he wants to keep her in France.

Divorce, man.
